Is Donald Trump Building a Future or Destroying Its Past?

The world periodically reaches moments where a difficult question must be asked. Are we building a future, or are we destroying the past?

War forces that question into the open. Every missile launched, every bomb dropped, every weapon manufactured represents a decision about where humanity chooses to place its energy, intelligence, and money.

Modern warfare is staggeringly expensive. A single missile can cost millions of dollars. Large scale military operations quickly reach into the billions. These numbers are often spoken about as if they are abstract, but they are not. Those billions come from taxpayers. They come from the daily work and effort of ordinary people.

Now imagine those same billions directed somewhere else.

Imagine a healthcare system where medical treatment is free at the point of need. Imagine hospitals fully funded, doctors supported, preventative medicine prioritised, and families never forced to choose between treatment and financial survival. The money spent firing just one missile could feed millions of people. The money used in one military operation could transform healthcare systems and save countless lives.

Instead, we repeatedly see governments choosing destruction.

War also creates enormous financial opportunity for certain sectors. As tensions rise, industries connected to oil, gas, metals, and weapons often see surges in investment. It is difficult not to question how many people position themselves financially before conflicts escalate. The military weapons industry alone generates vast profits from the machinery of destruction.

This raises uncomfortable questions about priorities and motives.

When leaders support or expand military actions, they often justify those decisions through national security. Yet citizens are increasingly asking whether the same determination could be applied to protecting life rather than taking it.

That brings the discussion to Donald Trump and the direction of American policy during times of conflict.

Why choose destruction when the same resources could build systems that save lives?

Why spend billions launching weapons into the sky when those billions could be used to create a healthcare system that protects every American citizen?

And perhaps the most important question of all:

How many people who voted for Donald Trump would have voted for war?

How many would knowingly support billions of taxpayer dollars being spent on weapons of mass destruction instead of building a medical system that protects and heals their own communities?

History also shows a harsh reality. When wars escalate and cities are bombed, it is never the political leaders who pay to rebuild. It is the people. Ordinary citizens pay through taxes, rising costs, lost infrastructure, and generations of debt to rebuild what could often have been avoided in the first place.

War destroys more than buildings. It destroys infrastructure, economies, ecosystems, and generations of human potential. It leaves scars that last decades.

At the same time, humanity already possesses the knowledge, resources, and technology to build systems that protect life, improve wellbeing, and strengthen societies.
